Smoked Salmon Dip, the World Famous Recipe

Ingredients

  • ½ cup plain Greek or strained yogurt
  • ½ cup whipped cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1 lemon zest and juice
  • 8 ounces hot smoked salmon picked over for bones, skin removed and discarded
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives plus additional for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill plus additional sprigs for garnish
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt

Garnish, optional

  • ¼ cup trout roe or caviar

Instructions

  • Place ½ cup whipped cream cheese, ½ cup yogurt, zest and juice from 1 lemon, 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives and 2 tablespoons chopped dill in a large bowl. Mix to combine. Optionally, you can blend everything together in a food processor.
  • Add 8 ounces hot smoked salmon and fold in, breaking up any overly large flakes of salmon.
  • Taste and season with sea salt if needed.
  • Transfer Smoked Salmon Dip to serving bowl and garnish with chopped chives, dill sprigs, and caviar if using.
